Not to bicker, but its use as a verb (or verbal) is archaic, and it ought to be spoken thataway no more often than "thee", "thou", or "thine".

In that same vein, referring to a criminal as a gentleman. Give me a giant break.

Just last night we were watching Body Cam on Investigation Discovery, and a Target employee calling 911 about a knife wielding man in the store tells the dispatcher, "Uh ... There's a gentleman with a knife here." He goes on to repeat it multiple times. I wouldn't last long as a 911 operator because I would have asked, "Do you realize how stupid you sound?"
