Saw them more times than any other band. Even managed to get into the theatre to watch them sound-checking during the tour to support 'Black Rose'. Philo had a radio pack, big thing the size of an original Walkman. Some band. For UK people there’s a farewell tour live gig on the IPlayer for a limited time. Worth a watch if only for a Phil’s showmanship and fabulous bass sound.
Hard to argue that![]()
Thin Lizzy voted best Irish band of all time | The Irish Post
THIN LIZZY have been voted the best Irish band of all time in a poll of more than 10,000 music fa...www.irishpost.com
It was The Chieftains or Planxty that first came to my mind. The Chieftains might disagree, but not me.
I hosted a goth night on St. Patrick's Day. Played some Virgin Prunes, Return to Khafji, etc.Seriously?
There's more to Irish music than Lizzy and U2.
No Irish band have ever topped this, in fairness:
Phil probably had a big influence on both of them just like they did a lot of first wave punk/post punk like the cure, pistols, etc.Stiff little fingers is better, and so is my bloody valentine.
Them
I remember the Prunes.I hosted a goth night on St. Patrick's Day. Played some Virgin Prunes, Return to Khafji, etc.
The High Kings?Dropkick Murphys?
Planxty, too. And Christie on his own.It was The Chieftains or Planxty that first came to my mind.
But yeah, Thin Lizzy is a good choice.
