It shouldn't bother me, but it does. Cm is 3 flats -- Eb, Ab, Bb. The scale is C D Eb F G Ab Bb. Eb is right there. D#? Nope.

Sounds like you have to either change the kind of musicians you're playing with or learn to be cool about stuff like that. I went to music school and all and I know my theory, but I agree with you when you said it shouldn't bother you.

Your drummer was right. The key of A# major has no practical existence. It's known as a "theoretical major key."
