I think about this all the time... there are so many marketing opportunities around here that Gibson completely misses, like this one. The local Coca-Cola distributor has many of its delivery trucks painted up with "Coca-Cola... Made in Nashville"... along with a .... Strat. Outside the Opry House there is a huge electric guitar sculpture.. with "Grand Ole Opry" inlayed on the fingerboard... and it's a Telecaster. If I were in the marketing department at Gibson, I would OWN this town. I would make sure that any and all uses of guitars for local/regional publicity were always Gibsons. It just makes sense. I do have a bachelors degree in marketing. And I did work for Gibson, though not in the marketing department. But I did make these types of suggestions to them all the time. They did not want to hear any of it, and I was subsequently fired. I haven't lost any sleep over it.
