Matt Duchene signs with the Nashville Predators, and they present him with this guitar. I can't even tell what it is, but it just seems wrong, and I'm not talking about the paint job.

What do you think would have been a better guitar?

Nashville? A Gretsch or a Tele… maybe one of those hideous ones with one pickup too many :p

I have no idea who Matt Duchene or the Nashville Preditors are. I can't even be bothered to Google it. But the 12th fret dot narkers are too far apart on that S-Type for my taste.

Given that Gibson has a factory there?

    Cheers,

That's what I was gonna suggest, a Gibson might have been a good choice, ya know being a "local business" now. or whatever.

Why are they giving a hockey player a guitar? Does he play?

I googled the story. The short - he plays, and it doesn't say what it is.

Let me look into my crystal ball...in the future this guitar will be signed by one or more real Nashville music stars! Or better yet played by one on a big hit! (there will be no providence offered cause everybodys' phone will be dead when this all happens) It may or may not pass through a charity auction before inevitably ending up on CL where you will have an opportunity to purchase it for a ridiculous price. I know this because I check Nashville CL way too often.:(

That is a Woodrow guitar. They do a lot of guitars for the NHL, NFL, etc. Inexpensive - I see them on Amazon for $360.

Looks like he signed a multi-million deal and got a cheapo guitar in the process.

OK, $540 is more accurate. Here is a pic off of Amazon. Same layout and configuration:

Matt is a fantastic hockey player and likes the guitar.

Here he is playing for a captive audience (his son). Heh

Ouch. That's about $441 too much.

Not to mention the contract for $56,000,000 and a $28,000,000 signing bonus.

He could buy a couple of Dumble Overdrive Specials, a Klon Centaur & a 1959 LP.
    Well...almost!
