The word is 'price' not 'price point'.

Interesting, “This option I bought was the best at the price point I had in mind” tells me someone has a price range that they had in mind, without having got say “I this option I bought was the best between the prices of $A and $B, which I had in mind.” Just seems cleaner to me, but YMMV.

That's how people talk in Arizona?

"Hi love, did you find a nice guitar you could afford at the store?"

“This option I bought was the best at the price point I had in mind”

As spoken by people trying to sound intelligenter than they are.

Same goes for people that say "process-seez" when they mean "processes."

"Fender sells Telecasters at every price point."

What's wrong with that sentence? "at every price" is not the same thing.

The one that really flames me off is when I read the musician's classified & it says: "Guitar player w/vox available". Why not just say "vocals"; WTH is with the "vox"?
I usually message them & ask "What model Vox do you have", just to irritate them. Nozzles.

Nothing wrong with it, written down or as a sales pitch.

In what scenario would you actually say that to me in conversation?

I've seen it written here, but I am sensitive to corporate speak and certain phrases I've heard again and again have come to irritate me. My manager says "going forward" all the time, as if there was any other way to travel in the fourth dimension.

Anyone who read it - lost.

Anyone who said “why did the thread go further than post #2 where price point was defined” - won.

Actually they also lost because they had to have read it...

Yeah, that's how I feel about it... Jargon, that has no place in friendly normal conversation.

I've left forums before because it felt like half the people on them we just shills for companies, on reflection they probably weren't, it was just the way they were speaking. :D

When referring to a general quality level, I think price range is wrong because it suggests dollar amounts from high to low.

A single price point for example might include guitars from $79 to $599 but not all guitars at that "price point" fall within what we would call a single price range.

What I mean is that a glitzy Bigsby equipped Gretsch might sell way above the price range of a Jay Turser single pickup student guitar yet have identical price point quality level finish, pots, fretwork and pickups etc.

Then take a simple single pickup set neck Epi Jr or other higher quality but simpler guitar and it falls in the same price range but a higher price point because you pay less for features and more for higher price point parts and quality control.

Or compare two near identical guitars from the Jay Turser factory where one is branded Jay Turser and the other is branded Squier by Fender.
Same price point but different price range.
    I'd say a $129 T style is in a different price range than a $349 T style.
Both might be built to the same price point and might even wholesale near the same price, but retail for very different prices.

The OP has his age listed as 50. Same as me. Were not boomers. I assume since you didn't know that you are generation Z or a millennial. You know, lazy, unaware and self-involved.
Even though I'm not a boomer, I find the tern "ok boomer" offensive, which is why I figured I'd throw and insulting stereotype back you way.

I just saw you are 60... I guess the jokes is on me...LOL

We call them fanboi or fanboy.
If you (almost/ sometimes) fall for their testimonials then they become shills to you!

Ever notice some of us only suggest Boss or Catalinbread pedals or even only RAT!!! in any pedal suggestions thread?
Then ask about JHS and 70% fume with hate while 10% say JHS made them better players?

I don't care if you love a product and if that's all you can say about it I dismiss it as not informative.

    Price point.

Humanity has reached a critical turning price point and will soon be unable to afford the costs associated with the significant problems we face and are trying to solve using the same flawed thinking we used to create them.

    Price point of no return.

After decades of intensive study on this subject, I've concluded that people often use more words than necessary in an effort to make themselves sound smarter than they actually are.

Something else to consider. Say a general retail price for a shredder guitar Jackson whatever, is $999.

I find one, and jump to buy it because it is only $399. I can then say, "I would expect better attention to finish detail at this price point." That means 999--not the 399 I paid, but the 'price point' it generally sells at.

But 'price' connotes and denotes something different.
