If memory serves, part of Rael was adapted for the Underture in Tommy.
I was always a big fan of The Who Sell Out. That was one of my vinyls that went missing. I still blame my sister, or rather her friend, when I went overseas for my junior year at college.

The last ten tracks on Endless Wire form the mini-opera Wire and Glass. It's not as well known as "A Quick One While He's Away", and not nearly as mini, but I've always enjoyed listening to it.

I love these, AND Tommy, and even MORE Quadrophenia.......but Psychoderelict doesn't get near the respect it should.

That first clip. That’s from The Rolling Stones Rock N Roll Circus if I’m not mistaken. Great concert (I’ve seen the recording obviously) but very fun to watch. I actually convinced myself to buy it. I’ve watched it numerous times. Still love every bit of it.
That Stones Rock and Roll Circus live version of “A Quick One” is awesome! I’ve always felt that it is one of the best live performances by any band ever captured on film.

This has to be one of the greatest live performances ever filmed. The Who were at their best when they were a wily gang of reckless hooligans breaking stuff.
I also love how they legendarily blew foppish dandies the Rolling Stones out of the room.

Are you talking about "Pure and Easy"? It showed up in the coda of "The Song Is Over".
But...as great as Lifehouse could have been, I'm glad it was distilled to the Who's Next album.
I think that was the full blown concept album "opera". SF Sorrow came out about six months before Tommy.
