How about instead of Mount Rushmore we get a seven story video display with a 365 24/7 web cam on 4th street in Nashville or maybe on the roof of the Ryman. Eight seconds for each worthy with the last in the list being some kid who got his first tele that day. 24/7 365

    Fender can pay for it.

    Wudya think?

This, my friend, may well be my favorite tele picture of all time.

If it's going to be a tourist attraction like the actual Mount Rushmore, then it should be people that the average person might know. There are a lot of suggestions here that require a Google search.
I'm going with Muddy Waters, Bruce Springsteen, Keith Urban, and Joe Strummer.

Keith Richards plays too many other guitars for me to include him. He's not really exclusively a Telecaster player.

Keith posed for a Wall Street Journal article and allowed this guitar to be in the picture with him. That's not Mt. Rushmore material.

So you're voting Keith out? o_O

Keith with iconic "Micawber" would be Mt. Rushmore material.
if one knows any guitars that have names, Micawber is most likely in that short list.

I’m with you on this one. Not a big Keef fan but if we go for the idea that Mt Rushmore tele players have to be iconic and recognizable, I’d include Muddy, Springsteen and Keef.

As to the fourth… I think we could afford the luxury to have someone a bit more obscure but highly significant for the instrument. Joe Strummer is a good call, but in all fairness I think the country/western swing heritage of the tele should be represented along with the blues & rock aspects (I won’t even try to induct Ed Bickert to represent jazz…).

    - Jimmy Bryant would be a good candidate, for his massive historical signification for the tele (not to mention his unbelievable chops…)
    - The usual country suspects would also be good choices: James Burton, Albert Lee, or more modern and great players like our own Redd, Vince Gill, Steve Wariner…

Yes I know, I’m leaving Danny Gatton and Roy Buchanan out… And Robben Ford. And, and, and…………
