    Hello all,

I was trying to explain to my younger nephew how the Telecaster is the most solid, most indestructible guitar ever designed, and how you can use and abuse it at your will, while always sounding and playing awesome.

I jokingly said that you could throw it against a concrete wall and it would be just fine... Well... He took it literally, and insisted I actually do it and record a video of the act.

I ended up throwing my two beloved Teles against the basement wall 5 or 6 times... partially due to some impaired judgement after celebrating a Syracuse basketball victory.

Anyhow, the next day the Teles are perfectly fine (which doesn't need to be said in this forum). However, after watching the video and recalling I shouted an F bomb, I wanted to rerecord it, but once my wife found out I wanted to throw one of our "hard earned assets" against the wall, she went absolutely ballistic... Apparently, she did't understand the whole point.

    Anyhow, here's the video:

...I actually agree with your wife...

I can imagine how I would feel if someone did that to one of my guitars.

I'm crying and it's not in laughter, I need therapy just something about 1:30 just makes me feel like I'm having a heart attack. And if anyone has been looking at the tele vocabulary thread, (let me think of a tele words...). I am traumateleized that you muteleted that telecaster. Seriously dude though if you ever sell those guitars show them the video as full disclosure and then video their reactions and most importantly report back! ;)

I did a similar test involuntarily last year. We were hosting a jam at a club and one of the other guitarists was drunk enough to fall backward over his amp into my Tele sitting on a stand and slam it against the wall hard enough to bend 4 tuners. I retuned when we went to play and it was fine. I did eventually replace the tuners, however. Any other guitar would have been in pieces.

Personally, I baby my guitars. I have invested a lot of time, sweat, and treasure in acquiring them, maintaining them, and enjoying them. I am their steward for now - someday they will passed along to the next steward to be enjoyed and hopefully taken care of.

Fine, you threw a tele against the wall. Of course it's fine. It's a tele. But you uttered the phrase "plays just like butter". We already had a meeting on that subject and those words are punishable by flogging! You don't know the trouble you're in, mister................:D

I totally respect that. I too have invested a lot of time in maintaining, modifying, building, etc. However, I tend to think of my guitars as tools (albeit really cool looking ones) that I will once pass on to my kids, scuffs and all. That said, if I owned an ES-335, I would probably polish it every day.
