Anybody else notice how their clothes smell after going in a Subway restaurant?
If I step foot inside, I wear that not-natural bread stench for the rest of the day. It permeates my clothing in less than 30 seconds.

I'm mindful that jacket season is approaching - Be Aware! One trip to subway and that thing will stink for most of the season.

I made the mistake of going into a Popeye's several years back. My clothes were permeated with deep fried ick within 30 seconds.

I think you're giving them way too much credit in calling them a "restaurant." It's one of those places I avoid.

Subway sucks. I was on board when they could consistently be the cheapest sandwiches around, with the 5 dollar footlongs..

But I'll be a monkey's uncle if I'm gonna go there and spend 10 dollars on a meal at subway.

Their coupons come from corporate, which the local franchisees usually ignore, and don't accept.. what's the point of putting them out at all?

If I need to buy a sandwich on the go, I go to a local Vietnamese Banh Mi place.

I worked for them on and off when I was a teenager in the 90s.

I distinctly remember coming in one day, opening a box of frozen bread and it looking different. They had changed the recipe. And the store stank from then on.

I used to come home smelling like cut onions and fresh bread. But after the recipe change, it was something unholy. Like Satan burning chalk made out of cardboard and a scorched patchouli recipe gone wrong.

    I hear ya.
But my company recently relocated to a tiny town with very few options. The burger joint takes too long, the pizza place is a buffet (masks strongly encouraged o_O) and, today, I was tired of the grocery store's offerings.

I've been bringing my lunch, but had a rushed morning and didn't have time to grab it.

So now I smell like burned powdered vomit.

(PS - meatball sub was delicious, as per usual!)

Penn station makes much better sandwiches for a bit more money. subway overextended themselves in the Jared years, seems like there was one on every other street corner.

When I was a teenager I had a girlfriend that worked at KFC. I'm still aroused by the smell decades later.

I picked my daughter up from school once, and she said, "Eeewww, did you eat at Subway?" Of course, I had lunch there that day. After that, I can't not notice that smell. Don't go there now. Also, they use a lot of soy in their bread, so people who can't deal with soy in their diet should definitely stay away.

I thought this thread was going to be about the real thing.

For the record, I prefer the sandwich shop's smell.

I have never noticed the smell. Might be a good time to quit smoking to check that stank you are talking about. Makes me curious.

My first subway was about 5 years back & I wasn’t impressed.
My second was a few weeks back, when we were stuck for somewhere to get lunch. It was worse!

Sure, but the print shops still want to stay in business.

The 'bread' there and at Olive Garden isn't actually bread. Not sure what it is.

Neither have I. I like Subway. Maybe this is only in the US?
