Yup, I've got it for Strats too!

I have several more traditional Strats, so this one was sort of a test bed for me, for trying out some alternative pick up choices. Before installing the Firebird pickups, as seen in an earlier post of mine here, I ran Filtertrons in it.

And before that, a set of TV Jones T-Armond pickups.

Prior to that... I ran three Tele bridge pickups in it. I found that the Tele bridge pickup sounds great in whatever position you place it in.

Here is how I received the new (take-off) body from Stratosphere.

Fender Player Plus Top Strat

Wee bit of routing enabled this body to run whatever pickups, in whatever configuration I might desire.

As it is today, and likely will remain for good. Awesome set-up. I don't see it getting any cooler than this. Firebird Strat.

Before I was unmercifully struck with the famous "Tele affliction", Strats were my favorite electric guitar.

My favorite traditional Strat is this Fender American Standard, Mystic Red finish, with rosewood board. Pickups are D. Allen Voodoo '69s. Pot knobs are steel Tele knobs - I just prefer the weighty feel of them over the little plastic knobs.

My second favorite traditional Strat is this Sienna finish American Standard with rosewood board. With stock Fender Fat '50s:

Just for fun, I ran a pair of Gibson Classic '57s in it for a while - sounded great, of course.

More recent configuration of it with a Fender American Professional maple neck, Fat '50s pickups, one vol. and one tone. Wired to allow neck & bridge pickups combined.

Some Strat snapshots in time, at various times, some years back:

Along with Mystic Red, Jade Pearl is one of my most loved Fender finishes...

The Strat I have had the longest is this 1976 Strat which I bought new in 1976 when I was teaching guitar at Primo Music in Walnut Creek, CA. I went to university classes in the mornings, and teaching guitar in the afternoons... I worked that program all through my twenties. That was quite a wonderful decade for me.

The blonde hard tail on the left is my 1976, along with the Midnight and the Mystic Red.

Does the Fat Finger on the headstock do anything? You have one on two guitars, so I guess you think it does. I've seen mixed reviews on it. Looking for your take on it.
I have a dead spot on my '99 Am Std Strat, and the Fat Finger definitely helps/moves it. I only use it if I need to... I don't play a lot of long, sustained notes, so it's not often used, but in my experience, it does work.

I've played a Tele since 1989, and never gave Strats the time of day. Coming up in the 80s, I kind of had a kneejerk reaction against them... In my mind, they were "dude" guitars. Four years ago or so I got Strat Fever, and went looking. Played everything I could get my hands on, and finally found this '99 Am Std at CME. I took it off the wall, plugged it in, and from the first strummed E chord, I knew it was the one. I absolutely love this guitar.

I got them for my Strat and Tele, about $18 for each. Do I notice any difference? Not really. I didn't do any experimentation with them. But since I have them, I use them.

Thanks!

It's a partscaster with a Fender 50's Classic Player neck and Bare Knuckle "PAT PEND '63 VENEER BOARD" pickups.

It also has master tone, a three way switch with a mini toggle for single/double pickups (giving Bridge+Neck, Bridge+Middle & Middle+Neck).

Love it! That neck is amazing--I have a 50s Classic Player Strat!

This is the only real Strat I have left. Gave away three to my sons last year. Have one older trans red Turser Strat that I put lipstick pickups in three or four years ago (but no pics).

Plus Top Players in aged cherry burst. Got it new last January for $500. No mods other than Fender Locking tuners (only because I wanted to do ‘something’ to it and it really needed nothing). Only Strat I will ever need.
