I was wondering if someone could help me with this. Merle Haggard's band The Strangers made several instrumental records in the late 60's/early 70's. Does anyone know if any of these were ever re-issued on CD, or maybe know of a place where I can find these recordings? I just recently got into the playing of Roy Nichols and I'd really love to track this stuff. Thanks!

You never hear people talk about them as a band - I thought they were great. Loved listening to their lead guitar parts while I was learning. Simple perfect twang.

I was "gifted" the entire series of LPs as digital files from a TDPRI many many years ago. It's a great collection of (mostly) instrumentals.

I picked up the Stranger LPs on Ebay or GEMM. I see copies of them for sale on ebay occasionally.

I think the box set "Merle Haggard-Concepts, Live and the Strangers" from Bear Family has all the Strangers LPs included on the CDs.

Thanks. I just snagged "Instrumental Sounds..." from Gemm.

At first I thought you were referring to a band from Belgium called The Strangers.
