It's funny how the name of an office supply chain store becomes so ingrained and beloved, but I understand it. The best corporate naming rights deal was the one where Great Western Bank paid to put its name on L.A.'s Forum, turning it into the Great Western Forum, which sounded... rather grand.

Absolutely agree about the Forum. Well at least the way the Lakers had been playing this year, having the arena called The Crypt is apt.

One of the reasons that the Lakers were eager to leave the Forum for the Staples Center was due to the lighting in the latter. They couldn't shut off the main lights to do a dramatic intro with spotlights, etc., because the old lights took too long to warm up. One would think this wouldn't be such a tough fix, but this is what the Staples people said.
