Out plowing snow this morning and I get a call on the radio. One of the guys got sent a FB post showing a smashed mailbox taken out by the moron in the state plow truck. I happened to be the moron doing that route this morning but due to an equipment malfunction hadn't even been by there yet, to knock down that particular mailbox.
Of course the dude had some choice words about stupid state plow truck drivers in his post.
Gotta love technology, you get blamed for things you haven't even thought about doing yet!
You'd think the dude would've noticed the road wasn't even plowed before he posted. But thinking has very little to do with FB postings.
I'm sure he'll call the office tomorrow and want us to fix his box. But between the time of his posting and the GPS in the plow truck, he's outta luck. :)

I can't find the guy's Face book posting, be interesting to see what other's had to say about it. Although as these things tend to go, I'd imagine everyone jumped on the stupid plow truck driver bandwagon.
I won't be posting on it. Nobody wants to hear facts on FB.

So people are actually reading about mailbox knockdowns on facebook and actually taking that seriously and then caring about it at all anyway? Wow! I thought the world was in rough shape, but if people have the time, energy, and emotional resources to give the slightest care to crap like this, we're really all doing well. If this stuff outrages people, better confiscate their TVs.

It's a forum for screwed up people to post inspirational things, fat people to post about their diets and people that like to complain about the world in general.
Other than that it's a waste of time.

I thought that maybe it was for grandparents who liked to see pictures of their grand kids who live out of state.

If mine lived far away that's what I'd use it for.

    Other than that, nope.

I don’t use any social media other than the forum here
But... from what I hear Facebook is pretty much full of half truth ever evolving gossip , way too middle school clique to me

Social media has given the non-thinkers a much louder voice...and arguably, more influence over other things too.

Last time a looked at facebook it was all bad news. That's where the TV news gets its stories from these days isn't it? Maybe it was twitter, cant remember as it's been something like ten years since i've given them any of my time.

I have dyslexia which makes written communication harder to interpret than plain conversations between two people speaking. I often misinterpreted posts and assumed sarcasm when it wasn’t intended. I got tired of getting frustrated by the avalanche of negativity I saw in posts from family members and long time unseen high school friends on Facebook. That and the people trying to write what seemed to be bragging Christmas letters about how fabulous their life is every post. I moved on from Twitter and Facebook a couple of years ago and have loved how much calmer my internet experience is now. Places like TDPRI are much more fun to check in on because I don’t get surprise attacked by religious or political arguments like on the unmoderated social media platforms.

Considering everything that is known about Facebook now, it's a wonder that anyone bothers with it at all anymore. I know some people just don't care about some of those issues, but maybe they should.

Even my wife, who had been unwilling to part with her account for years, finally killed her FB account two weeks ago. She'd had enough and refused to be a part of that anymore. She said anyone who wants to get in touch with her can call, email or text.

I find TDPRI to be a sufficient drain on my time. What is Facebook anyway? A HUGE CHAT ROOM!!!

Gosh, yet another thread full of Facebook bashers. How tiresome.

I suggest a separate "Piss and Moan About Facebook" subforum.
