Thanks for the heads up. Mine is a numbered and signed copy as well.
I find it very odd that these are just sitting at Sweetwater. But, hey, I'm not complaining.
Mine as well, and it's not a particularly high number either, like 206.
Mine showed up today, complete with candy...go Sweetwater...
Mine is 311...isn't that a band ? IIRC the slip case w/ the logo plate was also part of the "custom edition" and not normally included.
Having worked in a warehouse or two, i can tell you it doesn't take much for stuff to get misplaced, a box of 24 of these or even a whole pallet put in the wrong bay could go unnoticed for years. The other option is they were either misplaced at a distribution point and/or returned to the publisher by a large retailer that went out of business or deemed them unsaleable/unwanted.
Oh yeah, forgot to add mine is #292.
I got 312!
Mine came today, but I've been busy and hadn't opened it- I didn't realize it was a signed edition. Nice little bonus.
Slight bummer: My slipcase has a corner that is boogered up/crushed like it was dropped, at some point. Oh, well...no good deed goes unpunished.
Well, looks like we cleaned them out. They're gone from the website.
I hovered over the buy button a few times. I want this book. The issue is, shipping charges to Canada have passed my point of tolerance. Its just ridiculous now to ship a package to Canada it seems.
For example a $35 motorcycle part was $70 to ship via USPS to Canada earlier this week. I’m salty over it all.
I couldn't be more pleased..#290 here. Some times it happens, where they discover boxed items of hidden unknown value and put them up for a fire sale..signed and numbered was icing on the cake so to speak!! Kinda like the time I discovered a box of unopened 1962 Topps baseball cards in my late Grandmothers attic..as a kid I more than likely bought the whole box for $1.25 and for some reason never got around to opening it..still haven't!! Only now I know what I have..I'm going to really enjoy this book..amazed with appearance and the booked sleeve, well worth the $25.00 wouldn't you say?
You got a relic-ed copy...cool!
"Tone of Soul". A great book with a weak spine.
I paid $60 dollars way back when our dollar was worth 100 cents. Bought it from Amazon.ca if I remember correctly.
The book is pristine except for the sticky tape I added to the spine which soon started to self destruct.
I have quite a number of other good guitar and amp books that I enjoy, including the 'Blackguard' book, plus one other that rarely gets a mention around this forum, and one that I truly enjoy; the pair of hardback books labelled "Les Paul" - the Les Paul Legacy. Volumes 1&2. Some great reading and lots of great Gibson/Les Paul information.
I have those Les Paul books. They are great. I also have Stratocaster Chronicles and The Dream Factory about the Fender Custom Shop. Great reads all of them.
I can't find it at all on sweetwater, did a search and went through the book section, a link would be nice.
ok things start to get odd here ...
1) i don't have the slip cover
2) i can't find the "serial in my book" ...
Looks like they're gone now. Somebody probably found a box somewhere and they blew them out just to be rid of 'em.
Amazon now has "The Soul of Tone" used for $159. The "Blackguard Book" used is $769!
How close to the border are you? Is it possible to rent a PO Box in the USA if you're Canadian?
Sweetwater charged me $13 to ship the book to Canada, the book was $25 - it's on it's way. So in total it came to $49 kanuck dollars after exchange rate. I'm ok with this since it's a heavy coffee table style book + apparently I'll be getting some free candy with my order.
