The Sonics! Tight, trashy, garage rock.

I was on YT looking for noisy, lo-fi, garage rock, last night, and found lots of 60s songs from the Sonics. Primitive, trashy, well-executed stuff. In that search I happened upon a live gig in Seattle in 2015. After a lot of personnel changes through the years, they're in their current incarnation. They're in their 60s and 70s, but still burn the house down in the usual way. The drummer is killin' it from start to finish. The bonus was Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, Mark Pickerel from Screaming Trees, and Ben Shepherd from Soundgarten, all sitting in at times.

They were punk before there was a word for it and influential for a lot of bands. Here's their debut album, recorded 2-track with a single overhead mic for the drums.

Big fan. They sound fairly rough and trashy but it’s harder to pull off than it sounds. Even their duds are fun. That 2015 live set is a killer.

    Love 'em.

The drum break at 1:37 is pure rock and roll.

    Yeah, I've seen this.....but I'll watch again!
One of a few older bands that don't look (or sound) pathetic doing what they did years ago. And they're just as tight and solid as ever!!!!!

Right on all points! This is one of those bands I'd somehow never heard until last night. Their music is home, for me.

Have Love, Will Travel - killer. Heard it first in some commercial a decade or two ago. Still sounds great here!

Great band, also checkout the Wailers - Out of Our Tree, another great Pacific Northwest Garage rock band.
