I used to sing to my daughter when I changed her diapers...?

Some years back John Hiatt did a show here in Portland. The Blasters opened for him. It was in an outdoor amphitheater area we call Waterfront Park...

    About 50 people showed up.

It was one of the best shows I have ever seen.

Zero. We were upstairs in the dance hall at a town event, and all the food, pool tables, TVs and computers were downstairs, and so was the crowd. All we could do was laugh it off and jam heartily. The food was all gone by the time we finished, that was worse!

I played some gigs that were not well attended, but we got paid.
I once went to Alice, TX for a gig at a church. There was no heat and I think it was something like 40 degrees inside.
We packed up and went home. Too cold!

Does a cow elk walking past our deck while playing count?

Actually, I went to a well publicized gig and my wife and I were his only audience. We told him he didn't have to do it, but he said had nothing else planned that night. Fun stuff as it turned out. He let me play his CBG through a pretty cool pedalboard P/A system.

Perhaps I'm dense... so who won that battle of the bands?! ;-)

    Zero.

We got switched to close the show of a festival out of state because the original closers had to get on the road. We were excited to be the closers, but all the audience left after the second to last band. Literally, all the audience. The sound guy watched one of our songs and went out to have a smoke leaving us playing to an empty room. We just started laughing and goofed off while playing the rest of our set.

The best one for me was a girl hired us to play her party and nobody showed so we played about an hour for just that girl.

    Official Gig?
About 10, which dwindled to 1 by 2:00AM

    Goofing around?
2 girls that a guitarist and I thought we were in love with. He married his, I didn’t marry mine (thank God!)

PS—I forgot the harp (harmonica) contest I played...the first year, 300 people showed up (plus three judges) and fifty contestants (I came in third place). The second year, 6 people showed up (plus three judges) and three contestants...I came in first place.

For actual gigs a private wedding of 25-30 people. In the '70s before Robert Cray was known out of the area and not real well known here on the north end he played at a large bar on a week night, 3 at our table and a couple at another, 3 sets just like the room was packed.

I’ve had my share of very poorly attended gigs.
I’ve had them with really good bands, too.
When I was a road musician, some clubs insisted you play, whether anyone was in the club, or not.
It was cool with me, I love to play.
My wine bar solo gig is lonely occasionally, if the weather is iffy.
    I soldier on.
