Hey guys, I took the plunge on a Shijie TLV a few weeks back.
First noticed the brand via some youtube tastemakers a couple of years ago. Didn’t go for their strat-style guitar but couldn’t resist the TLV.
The guitar has a baked maple neck and various other high-quality appointments. This one’s worth considering if you’re open to different guitar makers...it’s a beauty:

I saw the Strat reviews and that piqued my interest, looks great. I love the flame maple skunk stripe.

How much was it and who did you buy it from. That looks incredible and I’ve heard nothing but good about those but I’m afraid to order directly from China.

Yeah I felt the same ordering from China — though I’m in Hong Kong so figured I march to the factory if there were problems lol. Honestly it was fine ordering. The contact there is easy to deal with. Think it was $650 USD, though you’d need to check on their website or aliexpress shop.

I lived in HK from 2000-2002, mainly on Lamma Is. Interesting place!

Yeah it is...and a lot more peaceful than the media would have us believe. Noticed that you’re back in Sydney? That’s where I was before coming here!

It's a real beauty. But I'm not sure I would buy a brand of guitar that I couldn't pronounce. Any tips in that department?

Haha yeah I know what you mean, it’s a bit hard to predict. I actually put a review up on you tube where I think I got close (my wife speaks Chinese)...don’t think I can post it here so you’ll have to search for it (think mines the only review up)...

What's the phonetic pronunciation of the brand? Is it "she-gee?"

Well, I’m not 100% certain on this to be honest. Like I said in my reply above, I gave it my best shot in the review. The first syllable is the same sound as the Chinese number 10 kind of like ‘Shh’ when you quiet someone but with the tongue further back in the mouth. The ‘jie’ sounds like two syllables not one. And of course with the language being tonal... you go down for the start and up for the end, but don’t quote me on that!

That puts it right in line with Schecter PT's. If I recall, those come with Japanese made pickups from a premium OEM maker? Much like the nicer Artec (Giovanni) from NK?

Yes the pickups were made in Japan. Haven’t played either Schecter or Artec so can’t compare unfortunately..
