I just like the fact that the pavement under the little Pontiac, when it was first started and launched, did not have 3 sets of launches on the pavement.

And there was no previous debris left on the pavement in the areas they ran the cars through. Obviously they do show that same sharp right turn into oncoming traffic twice, from two different perspectives (with the Plymouth cruiser leading the Ventura) but if you don't know these roads that well (I don't know the Taconic Pkwy from Mars) the continuity is real good. Much better than most chase sequences and IMO better continuity than Bullitt.

Neither of the motor sounds in the Bulitt or 7-Ups were from the cars being driven.

I was thinking the same thing. For sure not with the Ventura, but I looked up the 390 for the Mustang. I was always a Chevy guy, so the only Ford engines I knew were the ones I worked on for my buddies. Was the 2+2 390 and completely new design from the old Y block? Wiki is not clear about it. I'm saying this because I had a friend with a passion for the late 50's Fords with Y-block 390s that just would not rev like the soundtrack on Bullit, but that might be because of a different block design. Anyone know about this. Was the Mustang 390 just a thin walled cast iron reduced casting of the Y-block?

that was a funny chase scene. The screeching tires were really unnatural sounding...love the timing the guy had who opened his door at the right moment.

some shots looked real-like they filmed during actual traffic

in the beginning they almost take out a fire hydrant

Fascinating that not one, the two of the "innocent" parked vehicles were tired Opels. The blue one that gets hit on the right front side as the Grand Ville turns onto the "play" street and then later when the front driver door of a red one gets knocked off.

As a car nut, ++++1 for not seeing the same "support" stunt cars in one shot after another after another. Also, basically no "fakey" looking cars and trucks which are obvious (to sharp eyes) not what they're supposed to be. I hate it when the "Police Car" is just a street car with some garbage slapped on it in 10 minutes, or the "car almost hit at those intersections" is the same white Plymouth over and over again.

Ha yeah, what bugs me are those scenes where behind the trees, logs, brush, etc. is obviously some well built ramp to aim the car high in the air.

The 390 in that Mustang was in the 'FE' series of motors which started at 352 and culminated with the side oiler 427s used in the Cobra and various drag cars and the SOHC 427 used in drag and NASCAR racing. Totally different animals from the Y-Block 292 and 312s.
