What ZD said. The pic I posted of mine is a bit underexposed, but it's all I had on my phone.
Does it look like the patterns don't go as close to the edges of the guitar as they used to or is it just me?
I have a Paisley. I "need" a blue floral.
THIS is more what I would dig (minus the relicing)
The pattern doesn't look right to me.
This is a real '68:
The RI isn't the same. The wallpaper Fender used on the '68s was used up, so Fender Japan did what they could.
I can't get over the fact that a MIJ Paisley Tele is now £900 in the UK! I remember those going for £450 in the '90s, and that was the MIJ ones, not the 1999-2002 CIJ Paisleys.
I mean, I want one, but I don't "900 clams" want one!
Love Paisley Tele's I used to own this one.
How soon before we see a relicing thread on one of these re-issues?
That's OK; it's better to be underexposed, than have indecent exposure.
Heard somewhere that the original paisley teles had wood imperfections so Fender cleverly covered them up with contacts paper and feathered the edges. Similar to the Antigua Bursts were to cover up imperfections. Maybe an urban myth.
Now that I would buy and play and love and pet it and squeeze it and call it gorgeous.
The problem with that logic is that the Antigua Burst finish is a gross imperfection.
Which is more fun though?
I don't think this one that ZackyDog linked in the OP is the same as the Japanese one at Andertons that Lobomov linked.
The Andertons has a better burst with less coverage, and has the tinted neck, where the Sweetwater offering has an overdone burst and no tint on the neck.
Andertons says it's an FSR limited production they have, but it's not in stock yet.
Your/Lumbergh's way, of course.
Damn it - just when I thought I was done buying guitars.
Yes, I saw that one from Andertons and agree re: better burst.
In the 80's and 90's they couldn't give these away. $999 is a bit steep. That said I always wanted the pink one. Should of bought one back then!
