I know plenty who have $20k worth of gear an no desire to get any good at it.

Personally, I don't have a problem with that - people can spend their money on what they like. I'd like a McLaren F1 and I'm a terrible driver!

But I do get annoyed when bad musicians boast about their gear as though the price tag makes them good ones. And they do exist.

I'm sure they do, but there are also plenty of bad musicians out there who claim that their beat up piece of squire or epiphone rubbish is better because it has "mojo".

It's just snobbery, whichever way you cut it.

It wasn't a question about getting good at it. The description was about not being able to play at all.

Exactly! And yet, some folks here define that as being a snob.

Ridiculous. If I want to buy the most expensive guitar on the planet and just hang it on a wall, why should I be called a snob? Call me foolish with my money, whatever, but it's definitely not being a snob.

You're right, I had a particular "guitarist" aquaintence of mine who I was thinking of when I wrote that post. Reading it now, I think I was more accurately describing a "collector"

from space a prs looks pretty much like any other guitar... and people who are in a death grip choke hold appear to be hugging...

my new motto is 'viewed from space, I don't see a problem"

I have a very close friend who is actually endorsed by PRS, because of his gig. He gets several "free" PRS guitars every year, simply to review and offer his opinions on. I think technically they are not his to keep forever, but this has been going on for years and they've never asked for one back.

I keep bugging him to get a 305 for me to "review".

And this is why I'll never be a snob of any guitar make. No matter what I play, or how good what I play is, I still sound like me playing it. And that's not necessarily a good thing...

(Thanks for the quote, Wrong-Note Rod. It's a keeper!) :)

On the other hand, from space Rosie O'Donnell looks pretty much like Scarlett Johannson.

That means I would have to join a hosting site, and I'm too lazy.

It's a 1990 Custom, Black Cherry, wide-thin with moons. It was my primary gigging guitar for about four years, and the band was playing 150+ nights a year. It's got some miles on it.

I'm open minded to any guitar. I bought my first Fender ever in 2011. I started taking guitar lessons in 1966. Someday, I'll own a Gibson. I've owned several dozen guitars at this point. If you ask me every week for a year what my favorite brand is, I'll probably change my answer 52 times. Someday I'll own a PRS as well.

I used to have to put up with a PRS snob.. "Sounds just like a Strat, Sounds just like a Les Paul.. bs. Funny, I have a Les Paul and a Strat and they sound exactly like...oh well..you can't argue with an idiot.

I've got a couple of PRS's...oops..just gave one to an old friend so I have one.. I have a red double cut SE like the picture above. Nice enough guitars but they're nothing like Strats or Teles. I played a top of the line Santana model..and it was just plain awful. Maybe it was a bad one?

but if I'm naked and alone on the space station with binoculars, that can work out just fine too.
