The Partscaster, did you build something you wouldn't be able to find otherwise?

Project started because I was curious to try a roasted neck. Some poor soul abandoned his Tele project and sold this one on Reverb for a ridiculously low price so I jumped.

Took me two years of hunting to find the lightweight body I wanted. Ended up with the Chrissie Hynde. Factory nitro finish sealed the deal.

Didn’t care for the six saddle bridge so that’s been replaced with a vintage brass model.

This one feels like the first partscaster where I feel I got everything just right.

I wanted a 2 HB config w/five way switch (2 split options), volume in the tone 1 position and no other pots for tone on Strat body with hardtail. I originally wanted an LP at 25.5 scale but very hard to find.

Couldn't find a double bound Nashville in Burgundy Mist; rolled/hacked my own.

Loved the look of a Troy Van Leeuwen Jazzmaster but not a fan of the 7.25" radius.

You do amazing finishing work…both are gorgeous!

Kinda funny, I’m just finishing up a TVL Partsmaster but I prefer the vintage radius so I went full factory body and neck. My deviation is I’m going with white scratchplate and traditional controls.

Almost there.

I have fingers like plump kielbasa, so I prefer a 1.75" nut width to make it more comfy for cowboy chords. It doesn't seem like that would make much difference, but it does keep my fingers from crowding one another. Not too many stock offerings (in my price range) for a wide nut guitar.

I’ve modded all my guitars in some capacity; but there’s 4 I’ve technically constructed / “heavily modified” ....

• Red Sparkle Squier with Japanese F neck, split post kluson tuners & Pearl guard.
• Red MiM Standard Tele body, with F MiM Deluxe Tele neck (12” radius), locking F tuners, and Black F guard.
• Green “Guitar Build” ash body, with F Player Tele neck, F locking tuners, cream guard and SD pickups.
• F Player Tele HH, with custom black guard, gotoh Humbucker bridge, and F locking tuners.
Are those lego wheels on the knobs?

Excuse the mess in the pic. This one is MIM body with a Fender USA mahogany/rosewood strat neck. Vibramate Bigsby setup with Callaham slotted comp brass saddles and roller bar. Two humbuckers with an SD “screamin’ demon” in the bridge and Pearly gates neck. Don’t know if it’s visible in the pick, but my selector is a three way toggle at the rear of the control plate.
Definitely something I had to build, especially being a lefty. Sort of a Les Paul vibe I suppose, but still a tele. It works for me.

I don’t believe I’d be able to find a match for this hardtail strat I put together long ago. It’s an ash Guitar Mill body that I Tru-Oiled without filling the grain. The neck is a nitroed All-Parts with an awesome soft V and vintage-sized frets. Rio Grande Vintage Tall Boy pickups. It’s a great guitar and I do not think it matches any production model. Light as a feather, too. I love how closely the neck matches the body color.

I have never seen a Tele like mine in a store for sure! I wanted a narrow spaced nut (1-5/8"), compound 7-1/4" to 9-1/2" radius, Clapton V back profile one piece maple neck with stainless steel vintage frets, reverse head stock and heavily rolled edges from Musikraft with a bone nut. The neck has Gotoh vintage locking tuners. The body is swamp ash from Warmoth with tummy and forearm contours as well as heel contour. The bridge is a Wilkinson/Gotoh VSVG. All three pickups are Seymour Duncan (Seth Lover, Strat Middle Alnico 2 RWRP & Broadcaster). The wiring is a kit from Hoagland Custom. There is a volume and tone on 250K pots for the single coils and 500K concentric pots for the volume and tone on the humbucker so you can have any or all pickups on at once. The switch is a 4 way for bridge/ bridge and middle series/ bridge and middle parallel/ and middle. Musikraft did the neck in a light vintage oil finish and Warmoth did a satin finish in vintage tint.
After getting the Plek treatment I love the way it turned out, how it feels to play and how it sounds. The strap is a nod to Hendrix (like the reverse headstock) and is a replica of his purple suede strap that Gilmour now owns (it has faded to brown).

When I assembled my Tele style USACG guitar 20 years ago, I wanted a sub $1000 lightweight ash tele with a big soft V neck with a 9.5" radius fretboard and 6105 frets, vintage style hardware, very slightly overwound pickups, and a really thin natural finish.

It's still my favorite, so I must've gotten something right.

I did the same thing with a Strat about 5 years later and it's a favorite as well.
