I had always thought of him as some lightweight weenie having heard nothing except Cruel To Be Kind.
Did he do something else to garner such support here?
    Not being ugly, just wondering
(Besides being married to Carlene Carter of course, that would be pretty cool).

Rodeo, he has a four decade and counting catalogue. Much of which is fantastic. But what’s so funny about peace, love, and understanding?

    Cheers,
    Geoff

Nick’s a bit of an overachiever!
He was a founding member of pub rock band Brinsley Schwartz, Rockpile (with Dave Edmunds) and is a brilliant songwriter and record producer.
He was an A&R guy for Stiff Records.
Perhaps ironically, he didn’t write his hit Cruel To Be Kind, his bandmate in Brinsley Schwartz, Ian Gomm did.
Nick did write Elvis Costello’s hit What’s So Funny ‘ Bout Peace Love And Understanding.
He was also a member of supergroup Little Village.
Nick’s a great bass player, too!

He put on a great show with Los Straitjackets this spring. The Cary Grant of rock and roll.

He produced much of Elvis Costello’s early catalog and I think the first single(s)? by the Damned.

Very engaging in concert too. A raconteur if you will.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

He Wrote "The Beast In Me" for Johnny Cash, as well  There's a pretty humorous video on YouTube of him talking about writing that song....Nick's always been a funny guy

Well, a love won't last the night if it's built on sand...and if it's built on rock there ain't nothing that it can't withstand. I guess you know by now how this story goes.

I saw him right after he had split with Carlene, with Paul Carrack on keys …..they did a very cool reggae version of The Ace song "How Long" …..Nick looked mighty thin that tour, but am inferring nothing....love the guy
