I'm old enough to remember that paneling - I see your point. But, I'm OK with the Squier grain - pretty sure it's still a Pine body. And, Pine has that long, streaky grain. I'm in for one. Might want to sell the white CV, though. Since I don't really need 2. But, Either way, soon as they fill the pipeline with them, I'll grab one.

Mark, those Strats seem really good, I played one at a local shop and was really taken with it. It had all the usual CV attributes plus those custom wound pick-ups. When I decided to go back and get it it had been sold. Ive been hoping for a CVC in another colour cause burst just doesnt do it for me but now I might order one of these Simon Neil Strats. Only thing with mail order is I got so lucky with my CV's50 surely lightning cant strike twice? Or can it!

When I got my CV's CV50's and CVC it was the 1st tike Ive ordered a guitar from a big online retailer Musicians Friend the 25 other Fenders I got were from a mom and pop shop.

I was amazed at how good the CV50's was right out of the box and 1 1/2 years later got the CVC is was the same way perfect right out of the box.

In my opinion, BSB is one finish where you're *not* really supposed to see all that much grain coming through. Just sayin.

If I can swing another CV50, it'll be the vintage blonde.

Why wouldn't you want to see the grain? Lots of people are after this look:

    or this look:

I'll take some grain anyday over what they put on the AV52 - it's just TOO YELLOW:

Isn't the whole point for the body to match the neck?? Maybe I'm the weird one here, but the AV52s these days are usually just a neck tint away from being a Squier Affinity.

Mmm, I see your point. I didn't mean a totally opaque finish. And of course grain showing through a lovingly worn finish is something to be treasured!

I'm a little disappointed that they used the Alnico V pickups instead of the Alnico III. I absolutely love the pickups in the CV50 and was hoping to buy another identical one but with a different finish.

Also seems some of the plants have actually started to turn out good guitars for the money.
    Good for them. ;)

It's funny how many posts start with or mention " I had a cheap copy of a Tele" now the cheap copies ARE Teles.

Looks to me like there is not enough grain when compared to the Springstein and Richards teles, I guess that comes with age, real age. I think they look great buy one use it for 30 years then see if it looks like an old tele. : ) Looks like a nice guitar to me.

    Cost is probably the reason.

But the CVCs aren't pine. Just seems like some weird gimmick that really doesn't make any sense. As you all know, Leo switched from pine very early on.
