I have been under the impression that the Ted sound was a Gibson hollow body through one or more cranked Super Twins. Does anyone know if additional distortion-producing devices were used for the lead parts on “Stranglehold?”

Most of Sweaty Teddy’s stuff was around on the radio when I was a kid, but wasn’t really my thing. But I always enjoyed the soloing in “Stranglehold” and if he had Twins or Super Twins cranked hard enough to produce that level of crunch, that must have been like getting a face full of afterburner from a SR-71 Blackbird taking off.

I thought he was also using a treble booster on a lot of those older songs.

Byrdlands tend to be kind of zingy for a hollowbody archtop, as is. So he had that going for him
