Fender vs Gibson, Beatles vs Stones, Tubes vs Solid State...

There are some topics that almost always seem to end in a pile-on, no matter how it starts. Those are a few that I can think of off hand.

Without actually going into pile-on level details (this is an EQ test :) ), what are the big ones... anything related to the guitar world?

And, in your humble opinion, why is it such a touchy subject?
Strat trem springs...silver or black, how many, and what pattern ?

Varies hugely by generation .

One of the absolute greatest things that you might not initially realize if you overhear a bunch of millennials talk music, is that there is virtually no chance of anyone even mentioning Uriah Heep, Wishbone Ash, Styx, Vanilla Fudge , other crap band, additional s****y group, etc…

I mean, not even to say “oh, you know who else sucks that my dad listens to ?”

And then they rattle off those names plus a couple more D-listers.

Thank you millennials ! 🙋🏻👍🏽
Millennials is its own flame topic on guitar boards.

;)

Who was that kid who recently called something "boomer rock"? We all knew what he meant.

There are several flavors of millennials though.

He (Segovia) was impressed with Django.
He purportedly once asked Django who wrote one of his improvised pieces.
Django replied, “Me, just now”, or words to that effect.
I once hung a photo (from a string pack) of Segovia upside down over my workbench.
It was my protest against his “blight/abomination” remark.
Chauvinists (like Segovia) once really frustrated me.
I got over it.;)

Hi.

So called ‘unpopular opinion’ threads can be fun.

I think the solo on Cinnamon Girl is fantastic, for what it’s worth. And I love Neil Young’s voice. And, I also think Nirvana’s music was in fact music.

Recently I had composed an ‘unpopular opinion’ thread opener in my head and was intending to write and post it the next morning. But I got busy and didn’t. Which turned out to be just as well…
