Well the Father-Daughter project is complete - it looks and sounds amazing
    The build list:
    Neck
    60' Fender Vintage
    Gold Gotah Locking Tuning Machines
    Nut - preinstalled
    Gold Neck Mount
    Gold Neck screws
    Gold String Tree
    Strings
    Body
    Candy Apple Red Fender
    BS-TC1S-C Gotah Vintage Bridge intune
    Gold CONTROL Plate
    Gold Knobs
Emerson 4 way 500K POTS Control Kit
    Dunlap Straloc Buttons
    Gold Ferrules
    Gold PickGuard
    Gold Pickguard Screws
    Shielding
    Gold Input Jack
    Gold Input Jack Cover
    Pickup Mojotone 52 Quiet
Add it all up and it equals one happy young lady

One small drama in the build, but we learned from it.
We also had to change plans when she decided she wanted the Mojotone 52 quiets - had to order 500K POTS kit- she wanted to(and did) do all the soldering herself so I tried to minimize the needed soldering by getting the control kit.
We also sanded off a good deal of the lacquer on the neck.
I hate the pickgaurd she loves it - we have a antique pearl replacement ready to go once she gets bore with the gold one. 20191114_155158.jpg 20191114_155008.jpg 20191114_155048.jpg 20191114_155027.jpg 20191114_155020.jpg

Cool! What kind of stuff does she like to play on it?

She has good taste in instrument visuals. Has elements of modern AND traditional, to my eye.

Well, she often goes for form over function(hence all the gold), but she was certain she wanted 4way switch, the vintage bridge and locking tuners etc. , She picked the PUPs after lots of listening online, she just wanted it all to look good while sounding good and playing well.

Right now she spends her spare time playing classic rock - she plays on the church band so lots of contemporary Christian.

Tell her to wear some frets out on that thing! By the time she does, there’ll be some hand wear on that pickguard and it will look cool in a different way.

I know loads of young players, and most have zero connection to the "look" of the guitars that attracted us way back when. The days of the "brown" fine furniture guitar (AKA burst) are gone; the pearloid, surf colors, and other looks once familiar are now not particularly disliked, but not the pull they used to be. It's hard to be thinking "does that really look good to you?" but for what it's worth, I'd say that that smile for what you both put together is the final word. I'll bet her friends will say that that mirror gold guard is awesome. And so it is.

Nice! My granddaughter is only a little over two, but I hope the day will come when we will be able to share a project like that. (I won’t even mind if she is only doing it to indulge the Old B*st*rd.)

Nice job! I hope she cherishes that guitar for the rest of her life. I'm sure she'll be finding songs in there for years to come.

Very nice. Great finish. You two should be pleased.

That’ll be the one guitar she can show her kids and say, “Grampa helped me build this”.

    Well done.

Wow, what a fantastic project. Me and my daughter built a stomp box together. She doesn’t play, doesn’t want to play, doesn’t own a guitar at her mothers, but she loves that pedal and keeps it with great joy and pride. Kudos to you both. Extra points for the Beetlejuice shirt.

Beautiful guitar and I know she is stoked about it! Hey the pickguard can be easily replaced when changing strings to something more traditional if she wants. Hopefully she will treasure the guitar and the memories of building it.
