The replacement for Mike Sterns telecaster, led to the creation of his signature model Yamaha PAC1611MS
has anyone checked one of these guitars out.
Guitar Center has these and the price is $1799.99

I’ve played a few, and they look and sound great.
They seem a little narrow at the nut, for my liking.
Other than that, they play beautifully, too.

i would like to play one, I think they look really good. what might be a problem for me is the neck radius. but maybe not, can't tell till I get my hands on one.

I haven't owned that model but I had a cheaper Yamaha / Tele type guitar, it was solid , played well and sounded good. Yamaha makes some good gear.

Signature guitars are usually way over-priced, IMO. This is a textbook case. There are many ways
you could get a comparable guitar in your hands for less than half the price, IMO.

It's funny....I find Mike Stern's guitar tone to be so fingernails-on-blackboard sounding to my ears that
I would never consider trying to emulate his rig in any way....

One of life's ironies. There should be a thread about great players with bad tone.

I don't know who Mike Stern is, but Danny Gatton's tone had the same exact effect on my ears. A friend of mine was playing one of Gatton's CDs for me, raving about how great a player he was, and it couldn't get past that hideous nails on a blackboard tone. and the songs themselves were terrible, but that's a different discussion altogether.

I had two 311MS guitars, one in natural like yours and one in orange...both were really great guitars....I had a bunch of Yamahas back in the day....they were always way good for the $$$...and generally still are from what I hear.
