While Gold on guitars has its haters on this forum, I’m definitely not one of them.

Just swapped out EB Cobalts for 10-46 Optimas on a few guitars after trying it out on the LP. In addition to looking awesome (my opinion anyways), I do think they sound fantastic. Although I recognize that could be part of the bias based on my aesthetic
    preference.

    Enjoy! Or don’t!

Your next step: refret with gold fretwire!

This 'gold' stuff is not actually gold; it's an alloy of copper with a lacquer finish. The gold fretwire is a proprietary wire made by Jescar ("Evo" wire) that's nickel-free. The alloy was developed years earlier for use in eyeglass frames for people with nickel allergies.

I used to use Dean Markley Alchemy strings that were plated with a goldish looking plating developed by NASA. I really liked them but they stopped making them.

I wasn't aware that's a thing. Might have to try it on one of my two guitars with gold hardware, but whether they stay will depend on the sound and how long they stay fresh.

    Those guitars are beauties.

Gold is awesome, I don’t care what the internet says! I have gold hardware on my Heritage H575 Custom which is wearing off (especially on the tuners). I also have some on a 3 tone sunburst parts Tele I made years ago but actually don’t like that combo too much.

    That Gretsch is gorgeous, btw!
