"Lifted" implies they robbed or stole something from the Louvins. I don't think that is exactly what you meant, though. The Byrds paid homage and respect to Louvin Brother's work, turned a lot of their fans on to some great music they may not ordinarily pay attention to. If you go to the Steel Guitar Forum, so many guys got the initial steel guitar bug from that Byrds recordings with Lloyd Green and JayDee Maness' on pedal steel, as well as Sneaky Pete's work with the Flying Burritos.
