I stumbled upon this video of Les Paul demonstrating the first ever overdubbing looper that he invented. I find the guitar he's using to be very interesting too. I can't tell if it's LP Recording model in Alpine White that he's modified, which I don't remember, or if it's a modified LP Custom. It looks like a modified Custom, 'cause the 22nd fret isn't cutoff on the bass side like on the Recording model

Les Paul was known for modding the hell out of gear. Same as Eddie Van Halen. Can't find the article now but it was an interview with EVH where he talked about getting called up by Les Paul and LP said something to the effect of "You and I are some of the few people who understand gear at this level".
