I bought a new (used, yard sale) stereo for the garage, and it has a built in cassette player!

I've got about 200 cassette tapes from the 70s and 80s, that have been stored away for years. I used to buy albums, and tape them, and trade music to record with friends. I also have quite a few that I taped from collage radio while working 3rd shift.

The first tape that I played is a Leroi Brothers mix. I remember that I thought they were good, but didn't know any thing about them. I did a little research, and found that they were an Austin bar band, with an impressive pedagree. Keith Ferguson, Mike Buck, Don Leady.

Edit :@brookdalebill, do you know these guys?

Though I don’t know them well, I saw them a bunch of times, usually at the Continental Club.
I know Rick “Caspar” Rawls and Sarah “Loretta Leroy” Brown best.
    Great players, and nice people!
    They were a rockin’ outfit.

Great band! These guys played at my fathers wedding reception in Lincoln, NE in the fall of 1992. Good times!

Now that would have been an awesome wedding party!
I bet they played this one for the bridal dance.

    Thank you!

I remember that I didn't know if it was pronounce Leroy, or Le row. I see it was Leroy.

Anyway, here's one more. Probably my favorite on the tape.

DWI, was also a cool tune at the time, but we won't go there.

Evan Johns was in there for a stint. I have the "Lucky Me" LP.

Regarding their name, supposedly, they picked out 5 random scrabble pieces, hence the spelling of "LeRoi".

It was that or "The Oilers"

Anybody's read the Keith Ferguson book? It's a good one.

I haven't, but recently read an SRV biography and he was mentioned several times. I remembered him as an early member of the Fabulous Thunderbirds.

I will look for it, thanks.
