Ouch! I hope they put you out for that bone marrow biopsy. My wife had one and they just gave her a local. I thought she was going to levitate off the table.

    Best wishes to you.

very sorry you are having troubles, but be grateful we live in an age when so many things can be cured. 50 yrs ago you would have had to just suffer with it.

I've had myelofibrosis for a number of years. It also involves messed up bone marrow.
I've had several bone marrow biopsies . Not so bad.
    Not much fun being sick.
    Best wishes.

We've been hanging around here a while now and there's one thing I've learned about you, Paul...an old guy I used to hang around with would call you "tougher than boiled owl chit". It's true...and we're all beside you. Sounds like you're in good hands...:)

You didn't by chance spend any time in the Marines did you? I believe Benzene exposure is a common risk factor and those of us that drank the water at Camp Lejeune drank a whole lot of benzene...makes us 400% more likely to develop such aflictions as yours or any number of cancers, MS, etc. Just curious.

The thing about life is that there is nobody walking around without battling something regardless of age. Some are obvious and others are not, but everyone has something and I think that we get better at handling it as we age just by practice.

I mentioned the story of Ernest Shackleton in another thread and despite running face first into constant set-backs in life, they said that he was never effected by any of them. His philosophy was to accept each event as just a new challenge to conquer instead of dwelling on the set-back. He sailed the Endurance into an ice flow en route to the South Pole only to get trapped in the flow for months until the ship was crushed and they were left stranded. That was a major set-back, but to Shackleton it just meant that the new adventure was survival and returning home. His crew said that his attitude never changed, he just changed his focus.

I have drawn from that man ever since I read that book. I don't dwell on anything anymore, just look at negatives as just another variable in the journey and keep moving. I cannot recommend that book ("Emdurance") enough or even just watching the youtube video put out by Discovery or History channel on the man and that expedition.....just amazing.

I wish you the best of fortunes and sorry to hear that you got some bad news, but it sounds like you are the kind of guy that can handle this without losing your perspective.
