Yeah, I'm with this. Lot of what I'm seeing here I wouldn't actually call a mullet. The description I have in mind is 'long in the back, neatly cropped in front and on the sides.' I also feel there needs to be a kind of break or disparity in the stylistic continuity - like the top/front/side section and the back section are parts of two different hair styles jammed together. Like this.

I probably wouldn't call this a mullet, although I found it as an example in the same article as the photo above.

When I think back to the mid-eighties in the UK, I see mulletted and moustachio'd men wearing blue or grey jackets with the sleeves pushed up. Everyone wanted that Don Johnson look.
I refuse to even think about those shell suits.

Ice Cube wanted me to let y'all know that mullets weren't just for white dudes in the 80s

This is the scariest thread that has ever been posted on the TDPRI.

    I will have nightmares.

    I'm afraid now.

    Damn you guys.

Tease all you want, but that quaff was part of the player's uniform back in the late '80s.

It's a shame that the mulletsgalore.com site went dark. That page had countless examples of the absolute pinnacle of mulletry one could ever hope to see.

My favorite was the frollet. A fro that is a mullet.

I agree. There are specific rules governing what is actually classified as a legal mullet:

I came quick to laugh--I leave (quickly) frightened.

And to think, I lived through the mullet-peak/-nadir era, or whatever hell it might be called. And yet I was only mildly horrified at the time.

Back in the late '80s all the guys in a bike shop were I worked got flat top haircuts on a dare.
We were an inner city, underground shop and the flat tops sort of freaked out our customers.
    Fun-fun-fun!
