40.2c/104.4f yesterday in Gunma Prefecture—that’s like smack in the middle of the main island.

It’s not even supposed to be properly summer yet; theoretically we are still in the monsoon season.

Some concerns on the news last night about whether or not we will have enough electricity to support all the air conditioning this summer…

Almost exactly a year ago we had 114F here in suburban Portland -- not known for those kinds of temps. Had 100F+ many times previously though. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 99F-100F.

The ambient temp here was 103 F today.

In East Texas, that means the heat index is about 175 degrees lmao.

All of you stay cool, and safe, no matter where you live.

I did yard work about a week ago, was done by about 11am.

I still slept that night and most of the next day. It just drained me.

Today the official temp (at the airport) was 90. At the house it was 88.
I’ve often marveled how a tropical summer day can be cooler than a lot of the Northern Hemisphere
