I love "The Beverly Hillbillies" series.

Green Acres even moreso... I regularly play the Green Acres theme on guitar, along with a backing track. I wanted to cover it in my '60s band but other guitarist/singer refused. Not to get too far afield (though GA was a spinoff of sorts of BH), but Green Acres was the first TV theme that used a fuzz box on guitar—played by Tommy Tedesco.

That was a different brand of comedy back then. Stuff you laughed to then and stuff you can laugh to today

Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs were fantastic.

I was young kid at school in 62 but my mum allowed us one night a week to watch this hilarious show. Earl Scruggs was brilliant on the banjo.

Don't forget the many appearances of Cousin Roy Halsey (Roy Clark).

I was like 12 and I wanted to jump in the cement pond with Elly May!

Brought to you by Kellogg's Corn Flakes.

But Jethro was my favorite; dumber than a sack of hammers. He made the monkey look smart.

And Granny was insanely funny; so was Miss Hathaway.

Also gotta love the Bluegrass music!

I'm thinking this show was a real moneymaker...

Now that I'm older, I'm seeing them all in a slightly different light. I appreciate their characters much more. I know they're acting but the characters they're playing are really very good. Season 1 episode 6, Ellie May is coming down the stairs wearing a ball gown that Ms. Jane has picked out for her. Jed looks at her and it's almost as if he's about to cry. He says "You're a queen." and it's just so sweet. He's always trying to find the bright side. Such good acting for this kind of show.
