You know the one, well that should be the next email I get from my "sales engineer" (I wear him out and get my moneys worth, he does me right).

It's a short story, a couple of weeks ago I got the itch. I didn't bond with it and returned it for exchange. That guitar just got into their inventory yesterday and hasn't gone through "the process" yet... So I got the email about that yesterday and am awaiting updates, stay tuned.

I do a LOT of business with Sweetwater because my guy there is so great. He’s makes it easy to spend money with him and feel good about it.

I always try to use sweetwater. Great shipping, great products..

Though, they don't stock everything, just select items.

Sweetwater: Sean Carolan is my DUDE. We worked together when he lived in NY, then he moved to SWHQ and I am proud to call myself his smallest customer.

    Great guy.

I’m also a loyal supporter of Sweetwater. Outstanding customer service. Besides, who else is going to send you candy with your order??

If Sweetwater doesn’t have what I want, and I don’t wanna wait for it, I order from AMS. They have lightning fast shipping like Sweetwater (most of the time I get my stuff next day from either place using regular ground) and I’ve never had a an issue with them. They don’t have the personalized service, and you don’t get to see pics of and choose your exact guitar. But they do have their 3,6,8, and 12 month zero interest payment plans where you don’t have to open an account. Just use your existing bank card. That’s super convenient, for me.

What I don’t like about Sweetwater is that they will not price match. That’s silly, and has lost them orders from me a few times.

Good point on not matching prices. They’ve lost a few sales over the years from me for that very reason.

I'm always nervous about joking, "Hey more Sweet-tarts in my order" with my sales tech after an order arrives, because they're the one company that would actually throw a few in an envelope and send them out. What's weird though, is that there really does seem to be a disparity between the level of candy and the order. I've ordered big-ticket items and been sorely disappointed at the amount of candy in the box. I've also ordered a single obscure patch cable, and it seems like loads of candy in the envelope with it.

Incidentally, when travel is no longer a nightmare, it's definitely worth taking a trip out to see their campus, recording studios, and adjacent "Raiders of the Lost Ark"-sized warehouse where they fulfill orders. It's the musician's equivalent of Oz, to mix movie metaphors.

It’s not terribly far from me. I fully intend to go see it in person one day. Maybe when I finally go I’ll put a notice up here on the forum and see who wants to meet up and buy some crap!

My sales rep took me on a tour several years ago, but that was before all of their updates. Last time I was there was in 2018. I didn’t get a tour as I was shopping for a new acoustic guitar. I left with a Taylor 414ceR. Great guitar.

Great company, but I had a couple of poorly timed unsolicited calls to see if I needed anything during working hours. Do they still do that?

I love Sweetwater. Where else can I spend $2500 for a small bag of Smarties and Bit 'O Honeys?

Well to be fair, those are their work hours too. When I was in sales I generally worked while everybody else was at work.

I think they'll put a note in your file if you tell them to knock it off. I sleep late because of the hours of my job, and for a while, the sales tech or his assistant would invariably wake me up the day after a new piece of kit arrived. I finally told my sales tech that I keep "rock and roll hours," and they cut that out.

A guy I know in NY used to play with him. I've never had to use SW though, I can find what in need locally

This is why I avoid Sweetwaters. All of this unwanted attention creeps me out.
