I was thier first lighting director bin the 80s, Belinda used to come over every night to films on video player in 1981 when not on your. Her boyfriend was in The Blasters and he didn't trust here with anyone else except for my wife and me.
They were legit cool.

I remember the blasters, we were the first of three acts to go on before them one night at the Ice House in Pasadena, very early 80s. They brought in a full house for us to play to. Pretty exciting for a scrawny 15 year old kid with a shiny new Ibanez bass and Peavey TKO 65.

Think the little bass solo in Head Over Heals was the first one I really had down perfect, and I still got the Vacation album on vinyl.

They. Were. Huge. in the early 80s, especially in California.

Oh yes, I was very much in love with that song, and most of the Go Gos back in the day. Sadly, I'm not sure any of them felt the same affection towards me, so, the gentleman that I am, er, the gentleteen that I was, I just let it drop.
My first concert at the New Haven Coliseum was INXS opening for the Go Gos.
Truth be told, I was always sort of a music snob, so I used to crank this one on my stereo back in the day (and only the day since I wasn't really allowed to crank that stereo at night)

I love the original too, but man... the Go-Go's (Go-Gos'? Go-Go'ses'?) version is just perfect. Jane Wiedlin is an amazing writer and a pretty fair Joan of Arc.
