Do you have a copy of “ziggy stardust”?

You gotta turn off all the lights and put that on it’s maximum comfortable volume

I never really thought about drowning out the “scary” noises
Although when I play my crazy fuzz guitar Lois usually gets bored and lays down

Sounds like a war zone outside, nearly 10:30, slowing slightly, but it probably won't quiet down until well after midnight. Our local HOA hosted a fairly nice fireworks display last night. Mrs 39MartinD18 and I were able to open the gate in our back fence and go out to the banks of the "creek," put up lawn chairs and watch it almost overhead. Despite the heat and the odd mosquito, it was a fun evening. Happy 4th, y'all. Stay safe, sane and healthy!

We have neighbors who literally fire off professional fireworks. Pretty sure they outspend a lot of small towns.
Ticks me off because not only do they scare the daylights out of my poor hound, I'm more than certain these idiots have not been properly licensed/permitted to play with such dangerous toys. Too many houses (including ours) nearby to let amateurs be in control.

My guess is that if there were an I.Q test in order to use fireworks very few people would actually have them, same thing goes for drivers licenses

    What is that?

Is that one of those cannons they use to get the loose snow off of mountains?

It's a midwest/south thing. I used to have a good friend from Iowa and that was one of his often used phrases.

That's a propane cannon (a fancy rotating model, too), for scaring birds out of orchards and vineyards. I'm surrounded by them.

Hmm I’m gonna have to look into that, are they pretty loud?

We have plenty of orchards around here, now I’m gonna be on the lookout

I do, but he prefers Grateful Dead!

As soon as I finished that post, they started lighting them off across the street. He started shaking real bad, right away. He's used to loud music though, so this helps out a bunch. I can't thank you enough for posting about it. Cheers to you!

I hope that doesn’t mean that all the birds evacuate their bowels as they fly over your dwelling

Good question. I don't run outside. First, an espresso, then I evacuate *my* bowels.

Our 10 year old Chesapeake came outside, sat next to the wife and thoroughly enjoyed the show, loud bangs and all.

    War zone in Banning CA!

Stopped for the night heading out of town as I heard no fireworks and I have a dog.

Been non stop all day! Guys are firing off some impressive small ones about 50 feet off the ground with colorful sparks drifting to the ground....

Oh yea...the surrounding landscape is a nice dry kindling brown tone heading up the San Jacinto Mountains..... Burns to the ground every 10 years or so...been about 9.99 years since the last inferno...Special kind of idiots here in CA!

Still going here, but I'm right inside the city limits so it's happening a few blocks away in the unincorporated county. It's about as loud as the muffled gunfire when you're in the lobby at the shooting range, which isn't really bad. The cats aren't paying any attention to it.

    That’s kind of unusual(I guess)

Is your dog hard of hearing?
