    I never even considered it a question....of course it's George Martin. And there also were 6,7, and maybe eight Beatles too.

    Ron Howard's film 'Eight Days a Week' shows the bomb the Beatles dropped on the world was as much cultural as it was musical. Not sure fusty ol' George was the bombardier on that front.

    It was a combination of things, one of which (that is often overlooked) was the Kennedy assassination, which occurred just a few months before the first Ed Sullivan appearance.
