    what a hoot!

I just bought that for my girlfriend and gave it to her yesterday as an early Christmas gift. She's thrilled and in the throes of the greatest anticipation as we have yet to watch it...

She is fond of animation... :D

I've watched it with my daughter at least 20 times. She's four, so it appeals to her on a different level, but I enjoy it as well. Great story.

One of my friend played some upright bass on some tunes in the movie soundtrack, they recorded them here in Paris with jarvis Cocker and Wes Anderson.

    I really liked that movie.

Many people hated it, which I never understood.

I've got it on the DVR and plan to watch it with the family sometime over the holiday break.

I remember it getting panned by the "critics"...good to know that it's worth watching. Having two kids at home, I'm always looking for something decent to show them.

Saw it with my son (now 13) and we liked it ok. We both liked the book better though. Since he was little I think we've read every Roald Dahl book and short story.
Dahl's 'The Witches' was a great movie, though not animated, and of course you've all seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach.
A favorite of ours that should be made into a movie is 'Danny, Champion of the World' or maybe The BFG.
Dahl was just a fantastic writer.

I loved the book as a kid, so I was disappointed, since Anderson thoroughly Americanized and Andersonized the whole thing. I really liked his first few films, but since then he's been stuck making his version of dysfunctional family a la John Irving stories, and it's just not worked for me. From Royal Tenenbaums onwards, I feel like I'm watching a variation on the same story.

I'm a stop-motion fan also, I just wish Anderson had written his own script from scratch rather than alter the Dahl original to fit his thing.

Took my nephew and my son to see it when it first hit, we all LOVED it. Bought it on DVD the week it got released. It's a favorite around our house.

Never knew about the book, but it does not suprise that some would like it much better, I feel that way about a lot of movies.

I just take it for what it is, a great movie. I might feel differently if I knew tha book, but since I don't, I can evaluate it as a stand alone piece, and I gotta say I love it.

    Beagles love blueberries ...

I watched it recently with my youngest son who is 18, we liked it a lot, never knew there was a book.
George Clooney as the fox reminded me of his character in O Brother Where Art Thou?
