I love my current pickup set, with a Bootstrap '54 Sparkle Strat pickup in the neck, and a Fender '62 Reissue Tele pickup in the bridge. Sweet as honey. I originally set out to gear my Tele toward funk playing, but damned if this setup doesn't sound great for everything. Everything. That tone that Vaughan is getting is right there. Sweet.
I've never heard of him, but I like these! Is it just me or does his guitar look uncomfortably high?
Guthrie Trapp is smoking hot in the second vid!
I put a strat-sized PU in one of my partscasters because I can load a Lace Sensor in it and try a million different sounding PUs using the same pickguard. That said, the first one I tried is Lace's Charlie Christian, and I like it so much it may stay there permanently. I might try their PAF one of these days.
So I bought another PG with a Strat sized PU hole. I haven't installed it yet as I'm pretty pleased with the setup on my three Teles, but if I buy another it will go into action.
I have a maple MIM neck to put on this one when I get the chance.
