The day finally came…my Lexicon Lambda no longer works on my Mac.

Went to make some changes to recordings from and I no longer get any audio out from my Lambda. Frustrating, I’m pretty sure my computer is just updated to the point it’s no longer supported

So the search begins….I’m thinking a Focusrite Scarlett?

What year/model Mac, and which version of Mac OS are you using?

Have you tried updating/re-installing the drivers for the Lambda? I had a similar experience recently with my Focusrite (great little unit btw). I just did the re-install and everything was back to normal.

Having said all that I'm on PC and know very little about Mac.

My Lexicon Alpha stopped working when I upgraded my PC to Win 7.
I had to use an old Win XP laptop. Then my Yamaha 4 track!!!!
By the time Lexicon updated their drivers I had Win 10, and it's worked ever since.

Have you checked Lexicons website for new Mac drivers?

I've just checked the Lexicon website. Both the Alpha & Lambda are in the 'antique' section.
They're no longer supported by Mac OS X.

I'd get a Focusrite Scarlett!!! ;)
I am thinking the Scarlett solo. The 2i2 would be great, but I realistically only record one track at a time for demos. I was pretty bummed, I’ve loved that Lambda for years.

My mac is around eight years old. I’d have to look what it’s running, but it’s maxed out on what it’ll run too. I have a new laptop, but the old one is solely for recording.

Updates are the devil.

I recently updated my old Mac to Catalina,as I was having difficulties with old, unsupported browsers. Now Logic Pro X takes half a dozen attempts/force quit before it will open and I've lost all my old mastering plugins, which is even more of a pain.

I was specifically asking for the "About this Mac" info. If you have a Firewire port, and not updated past Mojave, I have a Focusrite Saffire you can have for shipping costs that should work fine. (It works on my 2012 Mini, but I don't use it for recording on that system anymore, which is just a home-stuff "desktop" these days.)

I would advise against going past Mojave on older systems because that's when you lose 32-bit capability, unless you've confirmed that all your apps have 64-bit versions you can already update to, of course. And, there have been some USB issues reported with Monterrey (Mac OS 12) that have kept me on Big Sur. (Most, maybe all, updates past Big Sur appear to be targeting the new Apple silicon, so I'll resist those until I get a new Mini, I think.)

Focusrite Scarlett is a good option. You may also want to check out the Audient EVO 4 which has similar features to the Scarlett 212 but is closer in price to the Solo. I use it as a portable interface with my laptop and it works and sounds great.

I’ll look at it tonight. That’s a mighty kind offer!

I’m on Catalina, but I think I’ll be wiping that and reverting to Mojave this week for several reasons. Just need to find the time to do it.
