In all of the Grunge and Alternative music of the early 90's The Breeders emerged. Kim Deal from The Pixies and twin sister Kelley formed a rocking little band. They had the Girl Group thing going, but way cooler than others of the day.

I had "Last Splash" on CD at the time. Lots of good memories.

Pardon the noise, but it is a good performance.
Notice there are no guitar solos. The Breeders knew how to make music, maybe not to everyone's liking. It's so simple yet difficult to perform.

Breeders are superb. So fresh, so original. It was wild to learn years later that Kim was playing acoustic on all those fuzzy parts.

And lets not forget The Amps. Pacer is as good as any Breeders record IMO.

“Driving on 9” is by far my favorite Breeders song. They’re amazing.

Yeah, Daytons finest. The Kelly sisters are hometown girls. Kelly had a house in the suburb where I grew up for awhile. They did a free show in town this last summer that was fun.

Driving on 9 is my favorite too.

    +1 for The Breeders!

I spent my 14th and much of my 15th year listening to Pod on repeat in my chilly attic bedroom in Gloucestershire, England. Thank you, Deal sisters, for keeping a lonely teenage boy company.

Kelly supposedly didn't even know how to play the guitar when she joined the band.

Pod was the soundtrack to my life at age 20. It seemed very relevant to everything I was into at the time. I still return to it frequently. Steve Albini's production was amazing. I think Pod has the widest dynamics of any rock album I've heard.

I also liked Safari a lot but they kind of lost me at Last Splash. Tanya Donelly's guitar work was pretty essential to their sound. I've listened recently to Last Splash and found it better than I gave it credit for at the time.

This is probably my favorite Breeders track although there isn't a weak track on that album:
