I just found out that Chet Atkins played electric guitar with the Everly Brothers accompanying on their acoustics on this iconic song.

This song has been in my repertoire since the late 1970s. In fact, I just played it last night.

Didn't he do a lot of session work while producing?
It might be blasphemy but I prefer him in smaller amounts. There's some great Don Gibson songs that Chet Atkins produced and played on. Really thoughtful fills and smart playing. He stayed busy for sure.

There are drums and a bass in there too, but I can’t find who played them. Any ideas?

Can't confirm, but some course at Wooster has the info below. Wiki says Floyd Chance on bass, and I think Buddy Harman played on Bye Bye Love, so the list below would make sense 'cept I'm not hearing piano or another guitar. Boudleaux Bryant sure could write, boy.

"Don Everly (voice, guitar), Phil Everly (voice, guitar), Chet Atkins (electric guitar), Hank Garland (electric guitar), Ray Edenton (guitar), Floyd Cramer (piano), Roy Huskey (bass), Buddy Harman (drums)"

I wasn’t hearing any piano in there. Good call on Floyd Cramer.
