OK, I read the exchange....but it never answered one pertinent question......did Bill Murray's company use a Doobie Brothers' song in a commercial without permission or royalties?
I am encouraged that the two law firms kept it civil and without hyperbole, but the clothing company isn't some charity, is it? Anyone know?

From what has been reported, it certainly seems there was an infringement and it was in a use for commercial purposes. The bit about Blurred Lines in Murray's lawyer's response is completely irrelevant, of course. Apples and oranges, not at all applicable to the current use of the actual DB song.

This is a convoluted story. What exactly happened? We will never know.
