Well it's Friday...

...and this being the opening weekend of "No Time To Die" (at least here in the States) featuring Daniel Craig in his last ever(?) appearance playing the iconic spy, I figured why not have a lighthearted discussion on who's been the best James Bond to date.

With that said, I included a poll in this thread. However, I'm going to got out on a limb and say that Sean Connery already won. Why? Because I think we can all agree he's the G.O.A.T. for that role. So lets have a million posts that all say Sean, Sean, Sean because where's the fun in that...OK?

But what about the others? Tell us what about your pick and why that individual resonates with you.

I've been a huge 007 fan since I can remember and that all started with Sean. However, I cast my vote for Daniel. I have not been disappointed in any of his performances. Plus, we share the same name

Sad to hear Daniel Craig is hanging up his spurs. After a string of blase Bonds, he was a breath of fresh air. Classy and ass-kickin' all at once.

The world is sadly in need of heroes who stand for something. We also need to clone Sam Elliot, the Duke, and Jimmy Stewart and make a series of grand-scale Westerns.

"Toxic Masculinity" is why we don't celebrate afternoon tea or speak German in this country.

Daniel Craig’s Bond was by far the most accurate to the character that Ian Fleming created in his books, but there’s no way a character that dark could have ever flown in the early sixties.

Having said that, the Connery movies had the most accurate plot lines to the books.

I grew up with Sean playing 007 and he was always my fav out of all the others....that is until Daniel Craig took over. I'd vote for both if possible, but had to vote Daniel.

Of course, the newer Bond movies are different than the older ones....a bit darker and much more 'realistic' ....... but Sean did great with the drama/comedy of the early works. I do believe a younger Sean would have worked well with the Daniel Craig role... and Daniel would do well with Sean's role.

They were all good, but I still have to give my nod to Sean Connery. He was JB in all my favorites of the franchise.

Connery, but I'm also just a huge fan of Timothy Dalton in general. Such a colossal actor with enormous screen presence.

It may have something to do with one's first 007 film. Mine was The Man with the Golden Gun. So, Moore. But others have done well, too, including Craig.

Dalton was a breath of fresh air after the last two Roger Moore films...which he hated himself. Too bad his two films didn't get the kind of studio backing Pierce Brosnan's or Daniel Craig's did, they seemed to be a much lower budgeted production. I always felt Craig's portrayal of Bond was closer to Dalton's than any other actor's. Neither one of them had perfect hair and a pressed suit after being in a fight. A lot more edge in their portrayals too.

But my favorite will also be "From Russia With Love".

"Live and Let Die" is my favorite, too. And, honestly, Moore is my favorite Bond. I love Connery, too, but a lot of his Bonds plays as quite boring today. But I love Connery's Bonds, too, and most of the others.

I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of the Craig era. They've stripped away most of the wit, the fun -- the joy of the the man with a license to kill! -- and now the films and 007, the character, are just impossibly dour and self-serious. But I'll go see "No Time to Die" and I'll end up buying the movie on physical media, which I rarely do anymore.

Oh... and I don't give a damn what's closest to Fleming's books. I read a bunch of them in my youth and... eh. My favorites, IIRC, were "Live and Let Die," which was used as a source for other films, too (e.g., the coral dragging scene in "For Your Eyes Only") and "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," which I recall to be the best written.
