The Beatles are the most overrated band of all time, forever.

Maybe, but it's more true of the Beatles than of any other music act ever, except possibly Chuck Berry.

I have probably never heard a more useless sentence than __________ band was over rated. Totally useless regardless of what you fill in the blank with.

I agree with the author of the article but I have rarely read anything in a major publication that was that poorly written.

I agree with Chuck Klosterman, who says that the only band that is 100% accurately rated is The Beatles, because pretty much everyone agrees they are the best band of all time, and they also obviously are.

Whenever I hear someone cover a Beatles song, I like to imagine them thinking, “The Beatles were okay, but I think I can do that a little better.”

If you were there in 1963 as an emerging musician yourself, then feel free to comment on the significance of the Beatles. If you didn't experience that cultural context, then I suggest you...............(fill in the blank that puts you in back in your own cultural box).:D

Troll says, "(Insert beloved band here) sucks." Gets something out of it. Irritates a bunch or people. Yawn.

Well put, and this was precisely the point I was going to make regarding trying to compare them to later artists. If you didn’t come of age in that musical scene, you don’t have the needed musical context to judge their influence. It’s not about how their songs sound to you now. It’s about the splash they caused in the big pond (and across it) back then.

Not really a fan myself. I like some of their early "bubble gum" stuff but their later work was probably too far over my head to get. But I wasn't there when it was all happening.

Well, my guess is that the article author wanted to throw a brick at obvious provocateur who disses the Fabs.
    That's all.

Beatles, Hendrix, Jim Morrison... all very influential on the music scene which cannot be debated. However, the problem is that people have elevated them to the level of idols. They are not all that.

You really had to be there to understand the truth of this...... Watch a Netflix " how the Beatles changed the world" and you'll have a clearer picture of why people say this. I understand the negative sentiments tho. I can't stand a single rap act anywhere....

"BEATLES, the musical foundation on which just about everything you listen to was probably built"

James Brown, George Clinton, and their bands provided about 90% of the beats for early rap and hip hop. That statement about the Beatles is only true if you ignore the influence on popular music of soul, R&B, blues, funk, and just about every black musician of the 20th century.
