The best compared to what? By virtue of their accomplishments, they became part of a very small group of artists that includes the likes of Elvis, Chuck Berry, and Jimi Hendrix. Those are their peers.

    you and me

    Zeppelin excites me most

yet so do the Beatles, only the beatles are more popular, and it matters culturally

    exactly

what Elvis, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Gerry Lee Lewis, etc and others too numerous to mention did was not surreal

the beatles took an original art form and made it something else, surreal

my point precisely, the afore mentioned were the true geniuses

why did it end at the beatled?

I don't think that it ended with the Beatles, but after a while it's hard to find new doors to break down. Hendrix did, Van Halen did, and I'll even stretch things a bit and add Michael Jackson to the list.

It was my poor, Americanized attempt at dry British humor. I guess the American accent killed it.

the point is as i see it,

centuries ago this country ran dry

we used to import talent, Handel, Music, Holbein, Painting

    you know the rest
