Hi guys, isn’t it astonishing with how little Gear the Beatles did their thing?
Yes. But they were good musicians.
Not much gear, a whole lot of ear.
Some good pics from their final public performance.
What more would you need ? In all the bands i played, at most i used one pedal. delay, distortion, or compressor. Most time there was no pedal.
edit of course, i am sort of a longway from the beatles.
Didn’t even set up Ringo’s drums on a rug.
The heroes were the ones who carried it up onto the roof then had to carry it all down again. Bet they were glad there wasn’t any more of it.
Is this a cheap attempt to flush Blowtorch out of hiding?
It looks like there was more camera equipment than musical equipment on that roof
Looks like someone is holding up cue cards ( or notes?) or lyrics in front of John Lennon?
- very cool camera shot- did not know they were so close to the edge on the roof!
Edit- I guess they aren't that close to the edge, so much as it's a cool view of the entire 'stage' area
it was re recorded in studio guys... come on, everybody knows that.
They would have loved Fender Tonemaster Amps.
Who knew, who knows….
I like their use of Rickenbackers and Gretschs in the early years, also Casinos and Paul using a Texan ( I had one for 17 years- had to buy a water system for the house and cried when I sold it). Hofner basses would be my choice. Ludwig drums up there with Rogers. They also used Vox when appropriate but that roof concert had Fender Twins ( which I also had one).
They were great and careful of choice of gear including those early electric Gibson acoustics. Let's face it they were the fab four.
You would know it if you had seen the Let It Be movie. The movie has the actual audio to go with the video. And it's different from the versions on the records.
Just imagine, Shea Stadium and no stage monitors.
I knew Get Back had been re-recorded but aren’t Dig A Pony and I’ve Got A Feeling the live roof performance?
it was a joke. I have seen footage.
edit oh. what i saw was get back. Was it recorded though? from what i remember, music and video were perfcetly matching up.
I always liked this pic from the earlier days.
I remember reading somewhere that somebody asked McCartney what type of bass strings he used and he replied that they were “long shiny ones”.
The gear — and yes, a lot of it was very nice — was secondary to the music for them.
